Study on modification of sulfur-resistant shift catalyst carrier by magnesium oxide

Hebei Messi Biology Co., Ltd. stated that magnesium oxide was used to modify γ-Al2O3, a common carrier of sulfur-resistant shift catalyst, and CoO-MoO3/γ-Al2O3+MgO sulfur-resistant shift catalyst was studied by using pressurized “original particle size” evaluation device and XRD, SEM and other analytical test methods. The results show that adding an appropriate amount of magnesium oxide carrier additive to the γ-Al2O3 carrier is beneficial to improving the adsorption performance of the catalyst for water vapor and hydrogen sulfide, accelerating the adsorption of reactants and products on the catalyst surface, and has a significant effect on improving the C0 shift activity of the catalyst, especially the medium-temperature shift activity. More importantly, the addition of magnesium oxide can effectively reduce the possibility of phase change of γ-Al2O3 under specific conditions and improve the stability of the catalyst.

The modification effect of magnesium oxide on sulfur-resistant shift catalyst was studied with the help of normal pressure and pressurized evaluation devices and XRD, SEM and other test methods, and the effects of magnesium oxide addition and addition method on the strength and activity of sulfur-resistant shift catalyst were investigated. The results show that the use of magnesium oxide as a carrier additive for the CoO-MoO3/γ-Al2O3 series of sulfur-resistant shift catalysts can not only improve the CO shift activity of the catalyst (especially the medium-temperature shift activity), but also help to improve the strength and strength stability of the catalyst, and inhibit or reduce the possibility of hydration phase transition of the γ-Al2O3 carrier.
