Hebei Messi Biology Co., Ltd. stated that it used the reduction leaching-impurity removal-activated magnesium oxide cobalt precipitation process to recover cobalt from a copper-cobalt oxide ore in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The effects of the addition method, dosage, leaching reaction time, impurity removal reaction time, and the addition method, dosage, and cobalt precipitation reaction time of the reducing agent sodium pyrosulfite were investigated.
The results show that when the grinding fineness is 74μm, the content is 70%, the slurry mass concentration is 33%, sulfuric acid is added to control the end point pH value at 1.5-1.8, sulfuric acid is added 30 minutes later, sodium pyrosulfite is added, the amount of sodium pyrosulfite is 8kg/t ore, and the stirring leaching is 5 hours, the cobalt leaching rate can reach 90.38%; the raffinate after the copper is extracted by the leaching solution is impurity-removed by limestone + lime, and the reaction is stirred at room temperature for 6 hours, and the end point pH is controlled at about 5.8. After the lime is added for 3 hours, the copper in the solution can be reduced to 0.04g/L, the copper precipitation rate is 90.51%, the iron precipitation rate is 99.23%, and the cobalt precipitation rate is 7.39%. The precipitate slag is returned to the leaching process to recover copper and cobalt; the solution after impurity removal uses active magnesium oxide to precipitate cobalt, and the active magnesium oxide is added within 5 minutes of emulsification. When the magnesium oxide dosage and cobalt mass ratio is 1.03 and the cobalt precipitation time is 5 hours, the cobalt precipitation rate reaches 90.13%, and the obtained cobalt hydroxide precipitate meets the industry’s secondary product standard requirements.
Since its establishment in 2015, Hebei Messi Biology Co., Ltd. has continued to focus on the research and development, production and sales of magnesium salt products, and is committed to providing customers with professional solutions and products in the magnesium salt industry. The company uses hydromagnesite, which is unique to Bange Lake in Tibet, as raw materials to produce active magnesium oxide with high content and large specific surface area. It has been verified by many companies in the production of nickel-cobalt precipitation process, and the extraction rate is much higher than that of international peer products. At the same time, Messi Biology products have passed ISO9001:2015 quality management system certification, EU ROHS certification and many other quality system certification standards, and the product quality has been widely recognized by domestic and foreign customers.
