Hebei Messi Biology Co., Ltd. stated that spherical magnesium carbonate, also known as light spherical magnesium carbonate, has a molecular formula of xMgC0₃·Mg(OH)₂·ZH₂O. Spherical magnesium carbonate has good filling, dispersion and fluidity, can improve the tensile strength and wear resistance of rubber, and is an excellent filler and reinforcing agent for rubber, plastics and other products. It can also be used as a filler in industries such as paints, coatings, toothpaste, cosmetics and medicine.
Spherical magnesium carbonate is mainly prepared from soluble magnesium salts and carbonates. Due to the high price of raw materials, its production cost is relatively high. In view of the abundant dolomite resources in my country, this article uses dolomite as raw material to study the process conditions for the production of spherical magnesium carbonate.
The results show that dolomite is used as raw material and the following conditions are used to prepare spherical magnesium carbonate: calcination temperature: 930-1050°C, carbonization temperature: 20-40°C, carbon dioxide concentration: 28-35%, additive: alkali metal salt, pyrolysis temperature :95–100℃. The main indicators of the prepared spherical magnesium carbonate are: magnesium oxide: 42%, magnesium hydride: 0.5%, moisture: 1-2%, hydrochloric acid insoluble matter: 0.1%, whiteness: 91, and specific volume: 5.5ml/g. Using dolomite as raw material to prepare spherical magnesium carbonate has the characteristics of extensive resources, low cost, and light calcium carbonate as a by-product. The suitable conditions for preparing spherical magnesium carbonate were obtained through experiments. After tests such as electron microscopy, it was confirmed that the product is spherical magnesium carbonate and the product quality is stable.
