Process and application of magnesium carbonate produced from magnesium sulfate

The process of producing magnesium carbonate from magnesium sulfate refers to the process of reacting magnesium sulfate solution with sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate solution to generate magnesium carbonate precipitation. This process has the advantages of simple process, convenient operation, and low cost. It is currently the most commonly used method for producing magnesium carbonate in industry.

Magnesium Carbonate Light Tech Raw Material
The basic principles of the process of producing magnesium carbonate from magnesium sulfate are as follows:

Magnesium sulfate solution reacts with sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate solution to form magnesium carbonate precipitation. The reaction formula is as follows:
MgSO4 + 2NaHCO3 → MgCO3↓ + Na2SO4 + CO2↑
MgSO4 + Na2CO3 → MgCO3↓ + Na2SO4

The specific process of producing magnesium carbonate from magnesium sulfate is as follows:

Mix the magnesium sulfate solution and sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate solution, and control the reaction temperature at 30~40°C.

After the reaction is completed, the reaction solution is allowed to stand to allow magnesium carbonate to precipitate.

The magnesium carbonate precipitate is removed by filtration to obtain a magnesium carbonate filter cake.

The magnesium carbonate filter cake is washed and dried to obtain magnesium carbonate product.

The process of producing magnesium carbonate from magnesium sulfate has a wide range of applications and is mainly used in the following fields:

Building materials: Magnesium carbonate is an important raw material for the production of lightweight bricks, sound insulation boards, insulation boards and other building materials.

Papermaking industry: Magnesium carbonate is an important raw material for the production of paper, cardboard and other papermaking materials.

Rubber industry: Magnesium carbonate is an important raw material for the production of rubber products.

Chemical industry: Magnesium carbonate is an important raw material for the production of chemical products such as synthetic resins, fertilizers, and coatings.

In addition, the process of producing magnesium carbonate from magnesium sulfate can also be used to treat magnesium sulfate waste liquid, which has certain environmental significance.
